Greenhouse Gas Reduction Strategies in the Transport Sector

The Joint Transportation Centre of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the International Transport Forum have released a preliminary report that explores strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transport activity. The final report is due out in the spring of 2009.

Frank Turner Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Transportation

In 1971 the Executive Committee established the Pyke Johnson Award, which may be given annually for the outstanding paper published in the field of transportation systems planning and administration. It honors the 23rd chairman of the Highway Research Board, who was highly influential and active in the affairs of the Board from its inception; he attended the organizational meeting in November 1920. In 1948 the Highway Research Board established an award in recognition of outstanding achievement in the field of transportation research. This award was known as the Highway Research Board Distinguished Service Award until 1952, when the Executive Committee redesignated it the Roy W. In 1992, the TRB created a TRB Distinguished Lectureship to recognize the career contributions and achievements of an individual in the areas covered by TRB's Technical Activities Division.
